Find Interesting Podcasts

I investigated locating podcasts about books (book reviews, authors, etc.) for our book club and also to use as a readers advisory tool. Here are some of the more interesting:

NY Times Book Review Podcast: Every week, Book Review Editor Sam Tanenhaus talks to authors, editors, critics and senior editor and best-seller columnist Dwight Garner about new books. I followed the subscription directions and added an RSS feed to MyYahoo (bloglines) page - couldn't believe it was so easy!

NPR: Nancy Pearl's Book Reviews: Nancy Pearl is a librarian with a love of books so strong it has been officially classified as lust. No matter the mood, moment or reason, she can recommend the perfect literary companion. Author of two books, Book Lust and More Book Lust, Nancy joins Jeannie Yandel every Monday on Sound Focus to share the most recent books to tickle her fancy. From thrillers to memoirs, international fiction to overlooked authors and even young adult novels, she plays matchmaker for the bibliophile in all of us.

Book World: Weekly book review podcast from the Washington Post. Wide coverage includes best sellers, history, self-help and a wide range of current non-fiction.

In addition, I found that many publishers offer podcasts marketing their own books/authors. Also it looks as though some of the major book review sites (e.g., bookreporter) plan to add podcasts soon, although for the moment, their promary offerings are wekly e-mail newsletters. I love bookreporter, so I signed up for this one and will look forward to seeing what it's like.

My favorite podcast locating sites were: PodcastAlley.com, Podcast Search Service, and Podcast.net.
